Welcoming Lorkin to the Traitors has however come at a cost to Dannyl, who has now lost the respect of the Sachakan elite. But in his heart, he knew that even if he never saw her again for the rest of his life, it would never be over. She would always be his queen. ▪ At the 2003 Ditmars, Canavan won the "Best Short Story" award with "Room for Improvement", published in Foreign Shores; The High Lord was nominated for "Best Novel" and her cover for Fables & Reflections 5 was nominated for the "Best Professional Artwork" award. Then, there are the characters. In large part, The Traitor Queen is a story about Lara’s redemption. Plagued by guilt and shame for her role in the deaths of countless Ithicanians, she is determined to do everything in her power to right things – to the extent that they can be righted. She is not the same person she was in The Bridge Kingdom, nor is Aren. They have understandably grown apart, and consequently, their love story is less fiery and more heartbreaking than it was in The Bridge Kingdom. They still love one another, but for Aren, that love is buried beneath layers of betrayal and hurt. The outcome of their relationship is not made known until the tail end of the book, which is to the story’s benefit. The book is allowed time to explore the intricacies of their relationship and examine how or if Aren might forgive Lara.

Tessia serves as assistant to her father, the Healer of the distant village of Mandryn. Although women are hardly ever accepted by the Guild of Healers, that doesn't deter the resolved Tessia. There is only one Queen of Ithicana. Just as there is only one King. And if any of our enemies dare come for our kingdom, we will bring them to their knees."The level of sacrifice was overwhelming at times but helped deepen Aren and Lara's characters. Even when Aren didn't want to feel things for Lara after her betrayal, he would still throw himself in harm's way for her. I liked that despite all logical thought, their love and need for each other didn't dissipate. The introduction of Keris and Zarrah was effortlessly put into the story and set up well for book 3. I adored Keris from the first moment he appeared when Aren was captive in the Maridrina palace and appreciated how he got Aren to think outside of the box.

A traitor to her father. Exiled by her husband. Who is Lara fighting for and what will she sacrifice to get it? Find out in this TikTok fantasy sensation My heart really hurt for Lara in this one. As I just wanted everyone to forgive her but I obviously knew it wouldn’t be that easy. I did really enjoy how everything came together in the end. Lara and Aren together were perfect and I hope we still still a little more of them in further books.Canavan was born in Kew, in Melbourne, Australia and grew up in the suburb of Ferntree Gully. From early in her childhood she was creative and interested in art, writing and music. After deciding to become a professional artist she completed an Advanced Certificate in Promotional Display at the Melbourne College of Decoration, where she received an award for Highest Aggregate Mark in Art Subjects in 1988. When the demands of the gods increase, Auraya has to make a choice between those she loves and those she has vowed to serve. Sometimes, I wondered just how much Lara would have to repent for actions that I felt she had shown wasn't from her true nature as queen of Ithicana. Stunning world-building, a vivid cast of secondary characters, and a steamy slow-burn romance between two exceedingly competent and compelling heroes. Dark Shores is not one to miss Booklist She was right, and he knew it. But in his heart, he knew that even if he never saw her again for the rest of his life, it would never be over. She would always be his queen.” Willful Thalamika, irresistibly drawn to the Mycenean Prince, disdains the earnest advice of her friends, as Andrios tries desperately to uncover the truth behind flying rumors of disaster.Having evaded capture by the Guild, the Rogue knows only Cery is capable of thwarting his ambition to rule the underworld. She is constantly tormented by the dead and the only one who can help her has mysteriously disappeared.

Despite being the biggest advocate for peace, being the protector of the Siyee, Auraya still finds herself in the middle of a simmering conflict. I didn't expect to love this book even more than the first, as I enjoyed The Bridge Kingdom a great deal. However, I really enjoyed this sequel far more than I anticipated. Elsewhere, Mirar regains his place among his people while Emerahl joins the Thinkers in their search for the Scroll of the Gods. Just FYI, the romance was slow-burn due to the previous betrayal, and there aren't many romantic scenes (only one true sex scene). The focus is more on Lara and Aren rebuilding their relationship and their emotional struggles, which I found to be more realistic and endearing. Even with everything that happened, they can't help but protect each other

I put this off for a while because I did struggle a little with the first book, but this one was so much better for me. I enjoyed everything about this one. Lots of action from the start. Lara being even more of a badass fmc. I loved seeing her more with her sisters. Richly-woven, evocative and absolutely impossible to put down . . . I loved every word' Sarah J. Maas, bestselling author of A Court of Thorns and Roses Equally, I enjoyed that Lara wasn't immediately forgiven for her wrongdoings. I think this is one of the few fantasy novels I've read where punishment, albeit sometimes harsh, played an important role for Lara to overcome and show her loyalty.
