Description

I really don’t need to say much about this lens’ build… if you know the 12-40 Pro…this lens is the 12-40 but 40-150.

Also it happens that the image becomes exactly 20Mp when cropped to the same field of view as the MC-20 image. Downscaling to small lightweight equipment has been a lifesaver – and contrary to the many urban myths which circulate in photography forums, for most usage there isn’t a big trade-off in image quality or performance. To make it easy we’ve teamed up with Deko whose technology lets you apply for and complete a loan application quickly, easily and informatively. The lens hood also has a neat trick to it…you turn a ring on it and it slides backwards over the lens to retract.

You can find the same shot taken without the teleconverter for comparison in my gallery and note the aperture selected delivered the best result in this instance. You use zooms for some convenience, and anything that lens does to keep you from having to switch to another lens is more convenience. As you can see, my depth of field was extremely shallow, and I have to be very precise with my focus point on my subjects’ eyes.

Steve is absolutely correct, the f stop is a ratio of the front glass and focal lens, nothing more, nothing less. This helps the lens to serve its purpose as a compact sports, wildlife and action option, with an equivalent focal width of 80-300mm (35mm format).

Produce stunning circular bokeh and leave your subjects in crystal clear focus to achieve high-resolution and pin-sharp detail.

I can apply this principle to pretty much every shot I take, having spent my full frame life shooting location portraits and wildlife on a telephoto lens using fast zooms at apertures of around f4 to f8. It really lets you bring out details and features on subjects in an impressive way without having to switch over to another lens or macro.Don’t take the time to do that, and you’ll probably accidentally take the hood off instead of sliding it. With these outstanding mobility, this lens gives you the possibilities of photographing the way you like in any locations using the minimum amount of equipment.

If you’re interested in test charts (which I never look at, because they can be unreliable much of the time and don’t always reflect field use) there are sites for that as well. The premium metal lens body incorporates 16 elements in 10 groups, including Olympus ZERO-coated HD, ED, EDA and – for the first time in an M. Complementing the optics, a dual VCM autofocus system offers fast and near-silent focusing performance to suit both stills and movie recording applications. When attached, it allows camera rotation, eliminating the need to tilt the tripod head for switching from landscape to portrait orientation or vice versa. It meant that I didn’t have to pull the 40-150mm off the camera nearly as much as subjects got smaller and closer. With animals I tend to make sure I set a very high shutter speed – even if the animal is static for a given shot it might suddenly engage in rapid activity which I will want to capture as it unfolds – those moments will be gone if you set your shutter speed only for static captures. Zuiko lenses are compatible with the entire range of Olympus PEN and OM-D cameras as well as other MFT cameras.
