The fourth novel in the Clifton Chronicles series picks up minutes where the “Best Kept Secret” left.

And with that decision, the story takes yet another twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat. But he forgets about those faults, though faults they definitely are, because he is desperate to see what happens next.Would she ever be the same cheerful little girl who ran around Seb like an obedient puppy, tail wagging with unbridled adoration? Simon Wiesenthal makes a brief appearance, along with the IRA, and I was also introduced to the British food product fish paste. I don't recommend reading this book as a standalone novel because you would miss out on some of the history of the drama that is always in high gear in this epic family drama.

The expectation of a lack of resolution - a repeat of what has happened in all the previous books - could make many lost interest in the last quarter of the book. The Chelsea Magistrates, and the advocates who appear in front of them, apparently wear gowns and transfer criminal cases - without any investigation of the facts - to the High Court (they might have committed them to the Assizes, Central Criminal Court or Quarter Sessions but not to the High Court and never without first hearing committal proceedings). He knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep until he’d seen his son for the last time, and he suspected not for some considerable time after that: the adrenaline of despair. The story never stops and even the minor branch-offs prove highly entertaining and develop the ever-growing list of individuals whose lives become intertwined with the Cliftons and Barringtons. Another component that stands out is Jessica’s lineage as her adopted parents Harry and Emma have not made her aware of who her parents were which leads to complications. Once I was able to give this book my attention it took barely a day to finish - which is a credit to the authors writing style and the pace that he sets in the book.

Be Careful What You Wish For opens with Harry Clifton and his wife Emma rushing to hospital to learn the fate of their son Sebastian, who has been involved in a fatal car accident. She gave the young receptionist her name, and the cheerful smile on the girl’s face was replaced with a look of pity. Jeffrey Archer is one of the world’s bestselling authors, with sales of over 275 million copies in 97 countries, and is the only author ever to have been a number one bestseller in fiction (twenty times), short stories (four times) and non-fiction (The Prison Diaries). Emma resolves to fill his spot but is stalled by Martinez, who nominates one of his men, Major Alex Fisher, to sabotage the firm during this critical moment.
