The wider colour gamut is certainly the biggest plus, the reds and oranges looking especially good in the shadows, and those blue tinted scenes (thanks at times to awkwardly placed neon lights) have a wonderful intensity without blooming or coming off noisy.

Supplements are fine for what they are but it’s the incredible presentation that make this one a must for fans. As someone who loves clever practical effects, “Visions of Light” with de Bont and chief lighting technician Edward Ayer ( Die Hard) is particularly fascinating as they discuss little things, like how they achieved the shadow affect when Nelson is sitting alone in his apartment holding his screwdriver defensively or the use of a projector to get the splintered light just so on David’s face before being confronted by younger Winnie. Nelson Wright (Sutherland, post The Lost Boys), is a medical student who lives in a millionaires all white mansion with billowing net curtains, who has a plan to find out what happens when we die. The main difference between the two formats is that the 4K UHD edition includes a 4K presentation with Dolby Vision, whereas the Blu-ray is just standard high-definition.The 4K UHD edition does not include a HD Blu-ray, so making the selection between these really depends on what your home tech is like and your personal preference. Arrow Video’s 4K UHD presentation is particularly stunning with a nice bevy of bonus materials to go with it, although it’s a shame that Joel Schumacher is no longer with us to comment on it personally.Plenty has been written about Flatliners in its 32 years of wide release, but one thing stands out that I’d like to address first: it’s not as scary as one might expect. org, one of the premier destinations on the web to discuss DVD releases from The Criterion Collection, Masters of Cinema, and other DVD production companies from around the world.
